Life Update: Four Things I'm Excited About Right Now
Part of my journey to being a better version of myself is being more positive. I tend to be on the realistic side of life, which some like to call negative (rude!), but I know that something I can work on is generally seeing things with a happier more positive lens. In my head when I tell my self I "have" to do something, I often try changing the phrase to I "get" to do that very thing and I realize just how different so many things would seem if I could take that approach. I am VERY much a work in progress but I like the idea of staying positive and discussing the things I'm excited about with you as part of my path forward. So without further ado, the things I'm stoked for right now:
- Over the last few years, my husband and I have found ourselves turning into loft renovators of sorts. We live in a big industrial building which was once a Nabisco Factory and was converted into super unique loft residences in the 90s. About four years ago we bought a 2bd/2ba that we renovated and lived in for 2 years. We then decided to sell that unit and purchase a 1bd/2ba with rooftop access. After gutting and renovating that one, we moved in with the plan to add a rooftop room once we finally had the appropriate approvals. Well fast forward a year and instead of building up, we are building out! A couple of months ago we purchased the unit next to us and started work to combine them! That is right one mega unit is what we're doing and I am so excited, not just for the space or the investment opportunity, but because the project itself is amazing to watch. This is my husbands #1 passion and it's fun to watch him learn and grow through the experience. It's also nice to know he's super handy and totally understands all the parts that I don't (electrical, HVAC, yada yada yada... I like the part where we pick out tiles :-))
- Chicago summer is upon us and I am finally home. After a stretch from Mid May through the end of June where one or both of us was gone every single weekend it is AMAZING to just be home, enjoying this city in it's prime. I'm logging as much pool time, dining al fresco, and trips to the family lake house as I can - just soaking up every minute of this perfect time of year.
- The podcast! I really can't tell you how fun it is to venture into something so outside of the little box you've been living it. It's scary and each week when we release and album I listen intently wondering if I'll sound like an idiot or not, but each episode has been so much fun to record and so much fun to listen back to. I quickly realized after my very first intro episode which was essentially a monologue that I said "UMM" and "Like" a littttttle too much so working on that - but what a great thing to learn! On a positive note, I really love how much energy I project in my voice, I never knew it sounded like that but I'm glad it does - I have a lot of energy in my little being and I'm happy to know it shines.
- Wedding Season! We attended lots of Bachelor & Bachelorette parties earlier this year and a couple of weddings, but it feels like the real wedding season is officially kicking off now. We kick it off this weekend here in Chicago and then wrap it up in early November out in Southern California with many interesting destinations in between, I'll report back but I can honestly say I'm so excited to see how they each turn out. They'll all be really different and fun in their own super unique ways.
